Mighta Missed Monday: Erk Tha Jerk

I had ‘Nerd Eye View‘ in my itunes but never got to listen to it until my North Carolina road trip. What was I thinking driving there? I’ll probably never know but the hours in the car were put to good use. I was pleasantly surprised when the shuffle feature landed on “I Know”. I didn’t even know I had sync’d the album so imagine the contradiction. (You’ll understand it more after you listen to the song) I listened to the album “cover to cover” for lack of a better term.

If I had to unjustly compare “Tha Jerk” I’d UNJUSTLY parallel him to Joe Budden. He rapped more of emotions and life’s tribulations but from a Bay Area point of view. I’m too East Coast for E-40 not old enough for Too $hort and too much of a Budden fan to get fully into Mistah Fab. We won’t even get into Lil B’ and The Pack. Erk fills that Bay Area intrigue–for me. You might not be up on him yet though for whatever reason. This is your chance to get acquainted with an artist you might have missed.

Prentice Powell’s “Good Father” poem on “Nobody’s Promised Tomorrow” alone is worth the hard drive space.

Video: Actin’ Funny – Ya Boy feat. Mistah Fab

I like a lot of different things. This is just fun music from a different region (The Bay Area). So don’t judge me, I’m just acting funny.
