If you are a “Hip-Hop Head” and love lyrics and lyricism you won’t like this cover. Not saying that lyricists aren’t on the cover but it’s obvious that wasn’t the focal point of the cover. The main idea behind this cover is to move units. It’s about money, getting more ad dollars. The people featured buzz’s are bigger than people that were snubbed so they made the list. This is nothing more than a ploy to sell more magazines. Don’t let this upset you. With that being said…DOM KENNEDY should have been on the list!
Fuck what you heard. Yea, this is a ploy to sell more magazines but keep it level for the youth. Thank you for placing Fred the Godson (that’s big for New York rap) but who the fuck is YG? I mean, yea, I heard of dude but going to have a big 2011? Isn’t that what you base the cover off of? The idea that these artists are going to be major rap contributors in 2011. Yes, he has a Def Jam deal but he’s gonna make a splash, in 2011? I don’t know if you know this but that whole jerk wave has washed up on the beach. He’s done before he began. He’s going to make a lot of money from being dropped from his label. I’m sorry to single him out but his selection was a stretch. Everyone else I can see the argument but YG? Nah, I can’t even explain that to myself.
In a side note: XXL won again by leaving people off of the list. (buzz) I’m glad French Montana didn’t make the list. That would have killed New York lyricism for awhile. Choppa, Choppa down! Salute to French though. A lot of people like him and the Coke Boys. They are building a fan base and a cult like following. They have their own lane. I just don’t want a bunch of little kids trying to clog that lane. That’s all I’m saying.
