The 12th of January marked a horrific day in Haitian history. A 7.0 earthquake rocked the left side of the Island of Hispaniola. As a result tens of thousands of people were killed and injured while more were left homeless. The Smoking Gun did an expose of Wyclef’s Yele foundation but Wyclef was the first person to respond to Haiti’s need. Not the U.N. not the Red Cross not even “the leader of the free world”. News outlets can conjure up what they may but the fact remains that in just one week Wyclef raised 2 million dollars via text message. Its not too late to text yele to 501501 to contribute $5 to the haitian relief effots. As a Haitian-American I thank everyone for their prayers, concern and donations. Our hearts go out to all the victims in Haiti and the families effected.

All my best friends are Haitian. Shout out to Mr. Celestin, Mr. Maissoneuve, Mr. Calixte, Ms. Drew. Glad to see Wyclef stepping up to the plate to help his home country. They probably need to get their books in order. Nonetheless, u need to show me video of Wyclef at the bank for me to believe that he would steal from Haiti in their time of need. Besides, do u need to see a tax return to donate 5 bucks? U waste more then that on bullshit. Go ahead and text ‘yele’ u cheap b-a-s-t-a-r—- I mean generous human being.
