Hip-Hop’s Crown Jewels Auction

Slick Rick

One of our generation’s greatest philanthropists, Russell Simmons, is holding a Hip-Hop jewelry auction for his charity, Rush Community Affairs. He partnered with Phillips de Pury & Company to get some of your favorite rappers pieces available to the general public (or whoever can get together about $100 grand by October 1st). Of course you’ll need to get tickets but that shouldn’t be a problem.

Dubbed the “Golden Era of Hip-Hop”, this auction is easily one of the defining moments of Hip-Hop. On the auction block will be pieces by some of your favorite artists, such as, 50 Cent, Alicia Keys, Biggie Smalls a.k.a The Notorious B.I.G., Birdman, Biz Markie, Busta Rhymes, Cam’ron, Damon Dash, Diddy, Eminem, Freekey Zekey, Gnarls Barkley, Ja Rule, Jay-Z, Jerome James, Kanye West, Lil Jon, LL Cool J, Mary J. Blige, MC Lyte, Missy Elliott, NaS, Pharrell Williams, Remy Ma, Rihanna, Slick Rick, Swizz Beatz, Tupac Shakur, VERBAL &Yaki Kadafi. There will be 70 pieces that will be auctioned off and they will be set up into different categories. Some of the more interesting ones will be, The Golden Era of Hip-Hop, East and West Coast Rivalry: Biggie Smalls & Tupac Shakur and Bling Bling and Global Domination. I think this is a good thing for the culture for two main reasons. The first being it goes to support a good cause (That’s rare in Hip-Hop these days). Secondly, no one had to get robbed for this event to take place. Thankfully.
