50 Shots Isn’t Justice!!!

Even though the senseless murder of Sean Bell happened on November 25, 2006. Fashion Hurtz didn’t know him personally but at the same time he was a young black man from NYC and we are too. The verdict came back and it wasn’t on the side of the victims (Sean Bell’s family & us) but we gotta let our voices be heard. Fashion Hurtz designed this shirt for that reason alone and somehow help out the family in there time of need.

The shirt was worn by Trent Benefield & others at the verdict on Friday. It was published in the post and all over the web.

If you are interested check it out at here. 25% of the proceeds will go to Sean Bell’s family charity of choice. We gotta support the family and make a statement!

I dont know what to say about the verdict. I’m young, black, named Shaun, drive a Altima, lay my head in Queens, and I’m engaged. Its scary to think that a misunderstanding could lead to my death at the hands of a Police Officer who ‘thinks’ I’m reaching. Nonetheless, I’m not one for second guessing a Police Officer who may be fearing for his life (at least not to the point of wanting them in jail- perhaps job loss is enough). Then you have to consider blaming the knuckleheads on the streets of NYC, who usually share our complexion, who give anybody (incl. NYC’s finest) reason to fear that every young black man is a potential threat. I think we need to control what we can control at this point: ourselves and our own backyards. Cleaning from the INSIDE out is usually more effective.
