Dame Dash endorsing Barack Hussein Obama? Okay, it’s a wrap. Give the nomination over to Billary Clinton.

C’mon DAME! Keep that ‘Hip Hop’ support for OBAMA to yourself. Geez, you guys are killing him. He doesn’t need to be looking like the urban black candidate choice. Keep it on the low till he gets inside the White House! Once he is in, the basketball hoop can be brought in to replace the golf course, the White House band can be replaced with DJ Clue and Camp David can be scrapped as the official Presidential vacation spot for PUFF’s crib in the Hamptons.

You know what I’ve noticed???? This man Barack Obama is fighting for the change that us Black people have been calling for since the Civil Rights movement & we don’t want successful Black people 2 publicly endorse him. Granted the hip-hop scene isn’t exactly loved by all but that same rap game has made respectable businessmen out of a lot of Black men & women. Why do we want them to be silent until after he wins??? God forbid he doesn’t win & then all of these influential Black business people would have put up their money for not a damn thing. If they are going to do the financial backing for someone that WE ALL endorse, then they should have a say as well. That’s just my 2 cents on the situation.

“Respectable” can be used loosely. Everybody has their fair share of bullshit that they are involved in just ask Elliot Spitzer. But, Hip Hop places emphasis on making your bullshit seem cool when in the real world you just can’t behave that way. With that said I agree with what your saying Reason. I’d just rather not see someone endorsing Obama then spraying champagne on some “bitches” in their next video. Because despite everyone having their fair share of “bullshit” it is still frowned upon overall in this country, ask Elliot Spitzer. It’s not a good look no matter how successful they are at entertaining, and it could ultimately negatively affect his campaign. As influential as these “respectable” business men are, how many of them are just on the bandwagon and how many of their disciples will actually vote. Or will they be too busy, forget, or pull the old “a black man can’t win so I’m not voting” excuse?

Reason, S.Mathis and Mathis: You all make really great points.

Maybe Dame’s endorsement might be a good look disguised as a bad look though….lol.
I’m saying…If Jay-Z’s endorsement is considered as a good one because of the influence he has on the black community, then why shouldn’t Dame’s hold some weight. He has some influence too so his endorsement should count. Black people hold musicians and other public figures in the entertainment industry in such a high regard, and they look at everything that they do. Dame’s endorsement might possibly influence someone out there to vote for Obama because of his endorsement. And the Democratic party will probably not even look at endorsements from non politiicans as a deciding factor for who gets the nominee. Obama has endorsements from influential hollywood actors and Oprah for God’s sake. I think he’ll be quite alright.
