That is the worst Jay Z video ever. It doesn’t help that the song is trash, too. Period.

I disagree with the whole, “the song is trash” angle. But I do agree with this is possibly the worst video Jay-Z has put out. He really didn’t have much choice when it came to which single to put out seeing that Roc Boys was already party themed he couldn’t put out a Party Life Video…Unless he wanted to continue where he left off with the whole “To be Continued” theme that rappers horribly follow up with anyway. To be honest I would like to have seen a gritty video for No Hook which would’ve made a broader statement to who he is in the game and silence some critics. i.e reeCe. Plus seeing that this song was to be about a drug addiction it would’ve been hot to throw in a Losing Isiah type feel or possibly a Dope Sick Love vibe.. I ain’t buying it either.

I need this video explained to me. As for the whole ‘worst JAY-Z video ever,’ thats a negative. That would have to be the video for ‘Sunshine.’ The song is great. I can’t understand whats to dislike about it. Great hook, smooth lyrics/flow (albeit, a touchy subject which probably shouldn’t be mocked or be danced around so playfully). Nonetheless, the skills are on display. The video does nothing for the song, though I do like the idea of him not being in the video. In my opinion, all or most of his future videos should exclude him. He should allow the videos to tell the positive messages or public service announcements that he has never done in his lyrics.

Hmmmm…..So that video was bad. Not shot bad or cut bad but really nothing to do with the song…or anything for that matter.

And Ill be the 1st to say it but damn can there be some dark skinned individuals in a video for a change.

All these mutha fuckas look like they belong in a 501′s commercial.

    Ya Finished.

I dont see how the video was that bad…it pretty much embodied what the song was about… When shorty was out on the street she was out there Looking for a hit…notice how Super happy she becomes when the Dude pops bacc uup into her life…the dude obviously being Heroin personified…watch as the Dude takes her to all these seedy places with other folks in euphoria ( drug house)..and the rest of the video is her being on her house notice after awhile she starts trippin… and her being Baked in a club….

not a great video..but he coulda been real formulaic and didnt…I do like the fact jay took the Luther approach and just dismissed himself from the Vid…all in all Decent…

good song…i agree wit MPC… i rather woulda seen No hook..and make it really Gritty

“Fucc Dehaven For Cavin/ Thas why we dont speak/Made men aint supposed to make Statements”… And the naysayers wonder why He’s in discussion for G.O.A.T

Wow!…. not what I expected.. but it wasn’t bad enough for me to label as the worst Jay-Z video ever. I definitely saw subtle parallels between the lyrics of the song and this video. (I agree with UnoMcFly)
The director took a less obvious, more artsy approach and still managed to capture the essence of the song in a very unexpected and sophisticated way. Might it have been a better video if a more obvious, predictable approach had been taken? Maybe…since the lyrics are really strong and translate into a nice story. Regardless, I’m glad Jay-Z is straying from his usual video style and trying something more provocative. It may not appeal to everyone, but kudos to him for trying something new.
