Jamie Hector Before He Became Marlo

Most of us wonder how Marlo just came through The Wire and Debo’d the town. Let’s just say he had help from a higher power. New York Mag has an article about up and coming director Seith Mann. The NYU student wrote and shot the short Five Deep Breaths which drew attention from Sundance and won Best Narrative Short at the Los Angeles and Chicago Film Festivals. The movie starred Jamie Hector and helped garner attention from Hollywood. After getting HBO’s attention the young director shot several episodes for season 4 and 5 of the wire. Check out this flick before Hector became Prop Joes thorn in his side. And oh yea, Omars coming back. (Second half of short after the jump)

Very true @ Headbanger – Nonetheless, some actors make a role with their facial expressions more then anything else. The go to word these days is ‘GRAVITAS’ – which Mr. Hector has plenty of. Its a presence which some people bring to the screen (i.e. Isaiah Washington {Bionic Woman}, Denzel Washington, Dennis Halbert {all the State Farm commercials}, Clint Eastwood, Jack Nicholas, Al Pacino, etc). He may play bad guys his whole career, but they are usually the best parts anyway! I just hope he is able to step outside of the typical drug kingpin role.
