Throwback Thursdays: “Street Talkin” Slick Rick

I remember my intern days at the Great Def Jam (160 Varick Days). This album was so important because Rick The Ruler was re-introducing himself to the game. Artists like Outkast showed loved and were also honored to be on the rulers album. Very rare you’d find that kind of respect being shown to those who helped pave the way. As I quote Remi Ma “If you’re over 30 you shouldn’t rap”. Always loved this song minus the questionable construction worker line (pause). Enjoy this hot fire while I dig up some more classics.

I barely remember this song. It had absoloutely no buzz minus that which surrounded Rick’s attempted comeback. Lets not throw around the word “classic” so loosely, as this song was not one in any era.

LMAO at Remy Ma’s quote. I remember that. What damn shame. Some of the 30 and up is killing the youngsters to this day.

Sheeit KRS who shared lockers with Jesus still be killing it on the mic.
